Hackers say they took 4.9 million records from the company guarding a million families' homes
Brinks Home — the alarm and home-security company serving more than 1 million customers across North America — discovered intruders in its systems on July 20 after the ShinyHunters extortion group broke in through a voice-phishing call. The hackers claim 4.9 million records from Brinks' Salesforce environment, including 1.1 million rows of customer contact data and 3.8 million customer support chat logs containing installation dates, billing details, and equipment information. Their July 30 ransom deadline passed with the company still calling its investigation "early and ongoing" — meaning families paid a security company that may have handed criminals a map of their alarm setups.
