Aug 3: Hackers dumped 41GB from Brinks Home — the company millions pay to watch their house

Brinks Home, the Dallas, Texas home-security company families pay monthly to monitor their alarms, disclosed that the ShinyHunters extortion group broke into its systems and leaked more than 41 gigabytes of files — over 4.9 million records pulled from its Salesforce instance, including customer contact details and support histories. Brinks says alarm monitoring and system functionality were not affected, but the customer data is already out. It's the latest reminder that when you rent home security from a big provider, your household ends up as a row in a cloud database someone else is guarding.
